Trading with other social enterprises

Where do you purchase the goods you use in the lifetime of your business?

When sourcing goods and services do you frequently purchase from other local traders or another social enterprise?

Sourcing as many of the goods and services that you need from local suppliers will help to improve the overall economy in your local area.  In return, local suppliers from whom you buy will be encouraged to look at your range when they source their own goods and services.

Sometimes it’s as simple as where you buy your staff tea and coffee, is it from a local supplier?  If you were to calculate how much of your budget is spent with local suppliers is it a high proportion, say over 50%?

By developing a policy of buying local – whether from other social enterprises or from local private businesses – you can contribute to growth in the local economy.  The gain for your business cannot be guaranteed but it may well open new markets for you to trade your own goods or services.
